A multi-faceted exploration of research-based principles for creating effective, inspiring natural outdoor classrooms.
Well-designed natural outdoor classrooms help support children’s healthy physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development. You’ll learn to apply research-based principles to your space, materials, activities, and connections with children in schools, early childhood settings, and public spaces. You will leave this workshop with inspiration and understanding on how:
- Children benefit from using nature as an integral part of daily learning.
- Well-designed outdoor spaces provide an ideal setting for many learning experiences.
- Learning experiences that take place in the natural world can support all children’s interests and needs and strengthen skill-development in all academic areas.
Focus: Natural Materials, Outdoor Classroom Design, Teaching, and Learning Outdoors
