CLIENT: Arrowhead Ranch
LOCATION: Camano Island, WA
AGE GROUP: All ages
DATE COMPLETED: 2024
In November of 2023, the Nature Explore Design team met with the team at Arrowhead Ranch on Camano Island, WA to envision an exciting new community space that would be open to the public and serve as a hub for special events, relationship building, and community programming.
Arrowhead Ranch was already a beloved community space that was known for inviting people of all ages to “come together to try new things and share experiences”. The Ranch is home to a variety of unique elements, including camps, axe throwing, seasonal festivities, and, most famously, their annual Stanwood Camano Island Soapbox Derby, which is one of the largest events of its kind in the country.
The vision for the Little Arrowhead Nature Explore (LANE) was to create a space tailored to families and children, 5 years old and under, to come and explore freely. A space to imagine, to build, and to create. Some of the unique features of the LANE’s ½ acre space include a one-of-a-kind pump track, a dry river bed, a climbing area with natural elements from the Pacific Northwest, and a stage for special events built around a vintage truck. The space was constructed in 2024 and officially opened to the public that September.
