PRE-DESIGN COORDINATION MEETING

We will meet online with you and any key stakeholders to brief the team on the upcoming design process, its objectives, and review the site visit schedule and logistics.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY AND VISIONING SESSION

This is the heart of our design process. Our designer and educator will meet with your stakeholder group, present the research and guiding principles that set you up for success, followed by a visioning session to develop a design that integrates our principles with your program goals, community values, special interests, concerns or circumstances, and the physical qualities of your space.

SITE VISIT AND MEASURE

Our design team will work independently on-site to measure and analyze your existing conditions. If children are scheduled to be outside at this time, we can learn a lot by observing their play in the space.

IN-PERSON DESIGN PRESENTATION

We will unveil a draft version of the concept plan for your stakeholder group to review, including a walk-through of your space to help you visualize the design. The ensuing conversation will help us finalize the design.

3-HOUR IN-PERSON WORKSHOP*

While our designer works on your plan, our educator facilitates a 3-hour, hands-on workshop – “Using Your Outdoor Classroom”. Up to 50 participants will gain insights on how nature-rich outdoor classrooms set the stage for children’s learning. We bring a collection of open-ended materials, which you will keep, to enhance nature-based learning outdoors.

2-HOUR ONLINE WORKSHOP (BASIC PACKAGE)

No outdoor classroom design is complete without knowing how to use it. We make this more affordable and accessible by offering a 2-hour, live-online, alternative workshop on “Bringing Learning to Life Outdoors”, covering similar topics to our in-person workshop, complete with a range of engaging activities, adapted to a virtual gathering. This is a budget- and schedule-friendly option!
