Engineering in the Early Years

Playing, learning, and communicating with blocks and more.

Children communicate emotions and ideas through block building and other three-dimensional work. Join us live-online as we share research, classroom stories, hands-on explorations, and rich conversations to strengthen your capacity to see and support the many ways children play and learn with natural and human-made materials for building indoors and out. You’ll leave this workshop with tools to:

  • Discuss engineering skills in ages 0-5 and how to support children’s explorations, competencies, and communication
  • Learn a language to assess, support, and celebrate children’s emerging engineering skills.
  • Understand the concept of visual-spatial thinking and how to support this learning in outdoor classrooms
  • Set the stage for learning indoors and out with intentional focus on space and materials

You will receive an email the day before and the day of the event, including the Zoom link. A Nature Explore Workshop certificate of attendance will be provided upon completion of the training.
